West Ham United have officially signed Roma striker Marco Borriello on loan until the end of the 2013-14 campaign.

The 31-year-old former Italy international had found playing time hard to come-by at the Stadio Olimpico this campaign, scoring just once in six starts and five substitute appearances, and was keen to secure a move away from Rome for regular playing time.

West Ham have communicated via their official site that the Napoli native has opted for a move to East London to aid the Hammers’ push for survival during the second half of the season, with the Londoners currently lying in 18th place in the Premier League, one point from safety.

Borriello will join fellow Neapolitan Antonio Nocerino in the Irons’ ranks with the 28-year-old AC Milan midfielder also confirmed to have signed for the club on Saturday.
