AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has revealed that he’s not thinking of his future with the Rossoneri at the moment and is only concentrated on ending the season well.

The 36-year-old, who is expected to retire sometime soon within the next few seasons, could be facing competition for a spot in the Diavolo squad next campaign as Milan are expected to sign Cagliari ‘keeper Michael Agazzi this summer, though he admits he has no problem with it.

Abbiati spoke to Milan Channel about his future and commented on the progress of young Rossoneri goalkeeper Gabriel.

“For now I’m not thinking of my future, we’ll see at the end of the season,” said the veteran. “First we have to think of moving the club up the Serie A ranks.

“I’ve never had trouble sitting on the bench, it also happened with Dida. I like fair competition.

“Gabriel? He has improved a lot compared to when he arrived at AC Milan. He’s someone who likes to work a lot.

“The only thing he lacks is a bit of experience. I believe that it’s important for him to go away for a season so he could play with continuity.”
