Swedish forward Valmir Berisha has claimed that he had ‘no doubts,’ about snubbing a whole host of European clubs to make a dream move to Italy with Roma.

The 17-year-old Sweden Under-21 starlet rejected proposals from Borussia Dortmund and Juventus among others to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract in the Eternal City after several successful seasons in Halmstad’s youth squad.

Berisha scored seven goals in seven games, and was a key player for his country as the Scandinavians finished third in November’s Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

“I have always wanted to play in Italy, despite the doubts and skepticism of my family,” he told solocalcio.se.

“Clubs in England and Germany were pursuing me, and I had a contract with Borussia Dortmund, but I ignored it, and the following day I signed with Roma.

“Aside from Roma and Dortmund, Sunderland, Hammarby, Werder Bremen, and Juventus were also interested.

“Sevilla offered me a contract straight after the [2013 Under-17] World Cup, and Ajax also got in contact.

“Nevertheless, I never had any doubt that Italy was the best solution for me.”
