Ouch!! I didn’t expect that!! Chievo suffer to the hands of Juventus who were dominate throughout the match in Turin, putting three past Michael Agazzi on his debut.

The Gialloblu showed determination and didn’t give up, but couldn’t handle the Bianconeri who took advantage of their mistakes and capitalised.

Thus, the Flying Donkeys have now sunk even further, moving into the bottom three and will have to show even more determination if they are to survival and stay in Serie A.

After the game coach Eugenio Corini comment on his team’s performance and this weekend’s clash with Catania. The 43-year-old is still confident that his team can avoid relegation and bounce back from their bad luck of results.

“Juve is a very strong team, we arrived in Turin without [Luca] Rigoni and [Dario] Dainelli,” Corini said to Rai Sport.

“We played a decent first half, in the second half both teams were balanced.

“They made it 3-1 but we were in the game until the end, the teams spirit and with this desire, we can fight to the end.

“The challenge is with Catania’s game and it will be important, but not decisive because the league is still long ”

Things are certainly not going according to plan, their position in the league standings suggest that the team are struggling to get results to ensure any kind of safety. However its tight with the bottom six and either side could grab a few points here and there and avoid the drop.

I never mentioned Catania in last week’s club focus, but they pulled out a well-deserved win against Lazio that took them from 20th to 18th, Whilst Livorno took advantage of struggling Cagliari and got themselves out of the bottom three.

Time could well be running out on Corini, It’s only a matter of time before president Luca Campedelli and the fans want to see results and will want someone else to get them. The tactician maintains that he sees positives in his side, however I’m concerned with the lack of goals. What’s happened to Alberto Paloschi, he was key on Corini’s re-arrival to the club, now the 24-year-old isn’t featuring in the starting XI.

The Flying Donkeys are also in desperate need of a solid defender, Michele Canini suffered against Juve’s Fernando Llorente who made it difficult for the former Atalanta man. Whilst Nicolas Frey didn’t have much impact on the game and committed a foul which lead to the second goal. The Gialloblu are having to rely without Dainelli who is their most experienced centre-back, but he is currently injured.

The arrival of Agazzi was a huge positive for the club but he needs a strong defence in front of him to make a real impact. A solid back-line means confidence and reassurance for the rest of the team, but at the minute there is no confidence and the midfield is having to track back and help, leaving the middle exploited.

Other news at Chievo, the clubs sports centre ‘Carlantonio Bottagisio’ was also vandalised over the weekend, after the offenders gained access to the premise and damaged sports equipment, police are currently investigated the criminal damage. Things just don’t get any worse, you turn up to training and all your balls are slashed!

The Gialloblu need three points this weekend against Catania. It’s a must win to give the team a belief and confidence that they have every chance of staying in the Serie A. I have faith in Corini, I think they’ve been unlucky for most of the season and hopefully their luck will change this weekend!

Forza Chievo!!
