Coppa Italia 2013/14: Semi-Final Round-up – Napoli will meet Fiorentina in the final

Higuain - Napoli v RomaFiorentina will meet Napoli in the Coppa Italia final after both sides overcame their semi-final opponents on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Vincenzo Montella’s side beat Udinese 2-0 on Tuesday night, erasing the 2-1 advantage took into the tie when Antonio Di Natale and Luis Muriel’s goals gave the Friuli side a win.

Manuel Pasqual opened the scoring for the Florence side before Juan Cuadrado doubled Fiorentina’s lead and and secured their passage to the final.

Napoli came through their respective tie to make the Coppa Italia final after dismantling Roma 3-0 to stop the Giallorossi making it to consecutive finals, ending the tie with a 5-3 advantage over the capital club.

Roma beat Napoli in the first tie 3-2 in a thriller and hoped to continue their form into Naples, but it was the Partonopei who came out on top.

Jose’ Callejon opened the scoring for Rafael Benitez’s side just past the half hour mark before Gonzalo Higuain doubled Napoli’s advantage minutes into the second half.

New signing Jorginho scored his first goal for the club not long after in style with a lifted finish to secure the victory.

Kevin Strootman capped off an appalling night for Rudi Garcia’s side when the Dutchman was sent off for sarcastically applauding the decision to book him, being ejected from the match in the 79th minute.
