In the aftermath of Chievo’s 2-0 home defeat to Lazio, coach Eugenio Corini acknowledged his side got off to the worst possible start against the Biancocelesti and has admitted that the Gialloblu face a real battle to escape relegation this season.

The Flying Donkeys are without a win in seven matches and are in the precarious position of being just one point above the bottom three.

“Lazio scored after just four minutes, and that was the worst possible start for us,” he told Rai Sport.

“Things then got more complicated with the injuries to Dario Dainelli and Preparim Hetemaj, in the second half Lazio controlled the game and thus deserved the victory.

“It’s going to be a test of resilience to the very end and it will be extremely tough.

“The club have done what they can in the transfer window and the new players possess good technique.”
