New Inter midfielder Hernanes said his former club Lazio lacked the necessary ambition, which was a factor in his January deadline day move to the nerazurri.

Hernanes joined Inter for a reported €20 million transfer fee, signing a four-and-a-half year deal with the club. Though, was seen in tears as he drove away from Lazio’s training ground for the last time on deadline day.

“After three and a half years at Lazio I realized that it was no longer possible to aspire to great goals,” he told tuttomercatoweb.

Hernanes also claimed that Lazio president Claudio Lotito made a respectable financial offer to stay, but the move was not about the money.

“Lotito had made great a economic proposal for myself in Rome, but I had already decided,” he said. “It’s not a question of money, but the results I can get.”
