Federico Marchetti is at the risk of failing out to make Italy’s World Cup squad given the form of Etrit Berisha in the Lazio goal.
Berisha has become the Biancocelesti’s first choice goalkeeper since Edy Reja returned as coach of the club in January.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Prandelli is already considering other goalkeeping options, in case Marchetti’s time on the Lazio bench continues.
Those in the frame include Andrea Consigli of Atalanta and Genoa’s Mattia Perin, both of whom have had excellent seasons for their respective clubs.
Marchetti, who has been already linked with many clubs, has been linked with a move away from Lazio in the summer.
I don’t rate Marchetti. He’s a decent shot stopper, but his handling is terrible. Italy has no shortage of quality keepers either so it’s not an issue.
