Andrea Mandorlini Hellas VeronaHellas Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini has hailed his side’s second half display in the Mastini’s 2-1 away defeat of Sassuolo.

In wet conditions, Neroverdi defender Thomas Manfredini opened the scoring for the visitors by diverting the ball into his own net, and Scaglieri striker Luca Toni doubled the advantage five minutes from time. Despite Antonio Floro Flores’ late headed goal for the hosts, the Gialloblu went on to secure their third away win of the season.

The result, which comes after defeats to Napoli, AC Milan and Roma, sees the newly-promoted side temporarily displace Inter in fifth position, and with 35 points from 22 games already this campaign, Hellas are exceeding all expectations.

“We lost three difficult games,” Mandorlini toldĀ Rai Sport. “Today, after a low quality first half, we returned to the pitch well, and we got a deserved victory on a difficult playing surface.

“We have always remained high in the classifications, and we’re having a great championship. We’re proud and happy, today we played well and we were also lucky.

“Next Sunday Juventus will come to visit, which won’t be at all easy. We have a good league position, and can play the game with tranquility and try to cause an upset.”
