Fiorentina forward Mario Gomez is likely to make his comeback from injury for the Viola in their upcoming league meeting with Inter on Saturday evening.

The Germany international resumed training last week following a five month absence due to a knee injury he suffered in September against Cagliari in what was just his third game for the club.

TuttoSport reports that Gomez, 28, will take the field against Inter after having been an unused substitute during the Viola’s recent Coppa Italia win over Udinese and coach Vincenzo Montella has noted that the forward has a good record against the Nerazzurri from his Bayern Munich days.

Gomez joined Fiorentina at the start of the season for around €20 million from Bayern, making an instant impact by scoring twice against Genoa in his second game for the club before suffering succumbing to injury in the following fixture against Cagliari.
