Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic said that beating Cagliari was tough for his team and that salvation must achieved soon.

The Doriani beat the Isolani 1-0 and the Sampdoria coach also reflected on his stint so far on the Doria bench.

“It was difficult to imagine two to three months to go on an easy path but we still haven’t done anything because the championship is long,” Mihajlovic told Rai Sport.

“It will be required to take as many points as possible and to reach salvation at the earliest opportunity.

“We knew that we would have a tough game [and] we won with heart. The victory is merited.”

Stefano Okaka and Michele Fornasier made their debuts for Sampdoria and although Mihajlovic was happy with the team’s performance, he was in particular satisfied with his debutants.

“I must give my compliments to all of the squad [and] Okaka and Fornasier played a good game,” Mihajlovic concluded.
