Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella has revealed that he’d like to make it to the Coppa Italia final as a reward to club owners Diego and Andrea Della Valle.

The Viola will be playing Udinese at home in their second leg Coppa Italia semi-final match on Tuesday and must win if they hope to advance to the final, as the Zebrette were victorious in the first game with a 2-1 result.

Montella spoke during his pre-match press conference on Monday and conceded that Udinese will be a tough team to beat, while also commenting on the condition of some of his injured players.

“The final would be a reward for the investment of the owners in the club these last 12 years,” said the tactician.

“In the time I have been here they have invested a lot and they have done well. Diego might come and watch us tomorrow and Andrea is always with us.

“The opponent tomorrow is a very difficult one, [Luis] Muriel and [Antonio] Di Natale are champions.

“Udinese have eliminated Inter and AC Milan, let’s remember. They are a very strong team with a coach who always has them well prepared.

“I don’t know if they are in better shape than us. It will be an open game and whoever plays better will win.

“Our group is made up of players who have played at a very high level, everyone knows it’s a very important game.

“[Massimo] Ambrosini still hasn’t trained yet with the group but he will do today. [Alberto] Aquilani is now training with the group, as is Mario Gomez.

“Gonzalo [Rodriguez] still hasn’t but we are hopeful, we’ll see today. I will have a clearer idea after training today.”
