After his Roma side were held to a goalless draw by Lazio in the Derby della Capitale on Sunday afternoon coach Rudi Garcia insisted that it was their lack of finishing that cost them all three points.

However, coming on the back of a tough Coppa Italia semi-final with Napoli on Wednesday night the 49-year-old praised the physical efforts of his players during another difficult game for the Giallorossi.

“We have played a serious match, but to win you have to improve [your finishing] in the final third,” Garcia told Sky Sport Italia.

“That is what was missing tonight, but it is a point away from home.

“It is necessary to be more clinical in front of goal, there was one occasion for Pjanic that if he shot first time would have done much better.

“Physically I found a very good team, it was the second game in a week and the energies were not lacking. We just missed making the right choice in front of goal.

“This may not be a good result if you look at the standings, but sometimes it happens that the better team on the field team fails to score.”

The Frenchman was also keen to praise Michel Bastos’ performance after he made his debut for the club coming on as substitute.

“I’m satisfied, he played with enthusiasm,” he continued. “He came into the game and then had chances, and this is what I expect from him.

“He can play many roles, knows how to attack and defend, is versatile and helps the team a lot.”
