Trapani’s Cristian Caccetta has revealed what a thrill it was for him to play and score against Inter at San Siro on Wednesday night.

Despite his team ultimately crashing out of the Coppa Italia following a 3-2 defeat after a poor first half cost them their dreams, Caccetta was just delighted to have been part of the contest.

Caccetta told reporters: “It is the first time I have played at the San Siro and to score that goal is the best thing I could have asked for. We just enjoyed the game and occasion as much as we could.

“Playing at San Siro gives you a great thrill and it overwhelms some teams which did happen a little to us but you must remember that four years ago we were in Serie D! But now we must try not to feel too satisfied and concentrate on our game against Cittadella.”

He added: “We had nothing to lose by coming here. We tried to enter the field with the right mindset and do well. Being in front of players like [Javier] Zanetti is a fantastic thing.

“Our captain played in the Eccellenza (the sixth tier of Italian football) a few years ago and this shows that football pays off in the end.”
