Roma will have their two curve and also the Distinti Sud closed at the Stadio Olimpico as the Sporting Judge handed out another ban to the capital club for territorial discrimination.

The Curve were closed during  their 3-0 victory over Sampdoria on Sunday 16 February for previous indiscretions yet the anti-Neapolitan chant of  “Oh Vesuvius, wash them with lava”  was heard elsewhere in the stadium leading to this subsequent punishment.

The disciplinary commission identified the offensive chants as coming from the Distinti Sud in their official statement and announced that the stand will be closed for the Giallorossi’s next home fixture against Inter and they have also been issued with an €80,000 fine.

The club had already appealed against the enforced closure of the two Curve but the verdict of that case will not be announced until Tuesday, February 25.

Roma talisman Francesco Totti addressed the fans in a plea to get them to avoid further punishment and back into the stadium to support the team:

“We need the support of our fantastic fans.”

“Playing with the Curva empty is not the same thing.

“I hope that for the rest of the season the fans won’t compromise their ability to stay close to us.”
