Etienne Capoue TottenhamTottenham Hotspur rejected bids from Napoli for midfielder Etienne Capoue up until the conclusion of the transfer window.

Napoli had been linked with the French midfielder throughout January and had numerous bids rejected from the London club.

It is reported in Il Mattino that the player’s representatives and Napoli had agreed personal terms, however, Tottenham director Franco Baldini rejected the move as the bid did not meet Tottenham’s €15 million evaluation for the player.

This evaluation was received by Napoli five hours before the conclusion of the transfer window, leaving Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis little time to negotiate a move.

It is understood Napoli’s bid was around €10 million .

Capoue, 25, has been out of favour under new Spurs boss Tim Sherwood and was keen to leave the club during the window and has voiced his displeasure with his situation in London.

“I’m not surprised. That’s the English attitude. They don’t know foreign players very well,” Capoue is quoted in L’Equipe.

“It’s tough. I’ve gone from first-team regular to someone who is putting themselves forward to play. It’s the first time I’ve experienced this.”

Copoue joined Tottenham from Toulouse in the summer and has featured in 14 games this season.

Yaaawwwwnnnnnnn…Serie A is becoming the dustbin of Premiership. Once upon a time Serie A players belittled Premiership and didn’t even consider England as a destination. Now they are desperate to land left overs of EPL. Maybe they should have taken notice of Berlusconi who said Serie A should be weary of English threat because if they get it right they will outshine Serie A. He was spot on. Italians have to wake up to market value of players nowadays. There aint many Capoues and Sandros around. He is worth every penny. If Higuain is worth 37 mil. Pounds then Capoue is definitely worth half of it.

  2. Hmmm, interesting given that the Premiership has the likes of Borini, Borriello, Armero, Arnautovic, Nocerino, Viviano, Giaccherini just to mention a few…. Sometimes dustbins are held in more than one top flight league.

    Good night.
