Udinese stand on the verge of a first Coppa Italia final in 92 years after beating Fiorentina 2-1 in the first leg of their semi-final clash at the Friuli.

Antonio Di Natale put them ahead before Juan Vargas equalised on the stroke of half time until Luis Muriel blasted home a late winner to put them on the brink of glory.

Nico Lopez went close early on before Roberto Pereyra drilled one wide of his intended target and Spanish winger Joaquin did the same at the other end before the Zebrette took the lead.

The captain Di Natale managed to sneak his way in at the back post to steer the ball home leaving Vincenzo Montella questioning his defence before Vargas bailed them out before the break when he crashed home a fine strike from distance that left Simone Scuffet helpless.

Scuffet did do well to deny Joaquin in the second half and Alessandro Matri went close when he chested the ball down in the box but could only direct his quickfire volley inches wide of the post.

The winner then arrived inside the final 10 minutes when substitute Muriel found a yard of space and drove a ferocious strike low into the corner past a despairing Norberto Neto and ensure the fans of the Friuli can forget their lacklustre league form for one night at least.
