After defeat to Fiorentina on Tuesday night saw Udinese’s dreams of a Coppa Italia final end, coach Francesco Guidolin wished the Viola luck but insisted that his side had performed the better of the two on the night.
The 58-year-old blamed nervousness and a lack of finishing ability as the reasons for his sides failures during the second leg, and with European qualification out of sight told the media they would be focusing on Serie A survival.
“In the end nervousness and anger took over,” Guidolin told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Our dream was fading but the performance was beautiful and we deserved at least one goal, but if you do not score it becomes difficult.
“We say good luck, but I am proud of my team who played well against one of the best Italian teams.
“We played at least on par, if not better than them today, but we accept the result.
“Missing out on the Europa League? We cannot achieve miracles every year, we sampled three seasons at a high-level and now there are teams ahead of us, like Verona who are doing things a little bit like what we were.
“This year we have to keep away from the danger zone.”
