Giacomo Bonaventura of Atalanta has spoken on his desire to play for the Azzurri and to become one of the best players in Italy.

The young forward has been linked with a move to nearly all of Italy’s so called ‘big clubs’ this season and his time with the Orobici is looking limited.

“Is it a dream for me to represent Italy at Euro 2016? No, it is an objective,” the midfielder told Tuttosport.

“I want to become one of the best players in Italy,” he continued.

“I want to become one of the great players for the national team, and I believe it will happen if I am given the opportunity to prove it.”

The Bergamo club have a reputation for producing good, young players and Bonaventura went on to make comparisons with a former Atalanta youth player Riccardo Montolivo.

“For me, I hope to follow his [Montolivo’s] career.

“Many players have made it after starting in Bergamo.”

Bonaventura has been one of Atalanta’s star performers in what has been an impressive season for the Nerazzurri so far.

The Bergamo side currently sit in ninth place in Serie A.
