Benatia - RomaRoma defender Mehdi Benatia could be set for a contract extension after a successful first season at the Stadio Olimpico.

Benatia has been a consistent performer for the Giallorossi this season and has help the club concede only 12 goals in 26 games.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that the 26-year-old Moroccan is ready to commit to Roma amid interest from the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona.

As a consequence the defender would be set to receive a significant pay rise.

Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic is in a similar situation, however, it is reported that the Bosnian is hesitant about signing a new deal to remain in the capital with speculation linking him with a move to PSG, Barcelona and Roma.

It is understood that Roma want to raise Pjanic’s salary to €3.5million.

Benatia has featured in 26 games for Roma since joining from Udinese last summer, scoring 5 goals.

Pjanic has scored 10 goals in 82 appearance since joining from Lyon in 2011.
