Stefano Colantuono says that his Atalanta’s hopes of qualifying for Europe is down as much to the teams around them as it themselves.

He was speaking after his side’s 2-0 win away to Bologna on Saturday evening which moved them to within a point of Parma in sixth place in the Serie A table.

Colantuono told Mediaset after the game: “Our table position is very rewarding and certainly winning six games in a row does not happen all that often.

“However, this does not only depend on our results but it also depends on the results of others. We now have to think about the next game against Sassuolo, a team in need of the points and a game which will be difficult.”

It was players who are not often assured of a starting berth, Giuseppe De Luca and Marcelo Estigarribia, who delivered the victory for the Orobici and their coach was full of praise for them.

He added: “Estigarribia is now starting to get back to his best after some difficult times. De Luca is playing well and scoring too but anyone that we call upon is good enough to do what is asked of them.

“We hope this will be my best season with the club yet. We always work very hard from the very beginning of pre-season and are doing well so we will see.”
