Reports submitted by judge appointed consultants following an investigation into the death of Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini have claimed that a defibrillator wasn’t used.

The midfielder collapsed on the pitch during a game between Livorno and Pescara, suffering a fatal cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead at Pescara’s Santo Spirito hospital.

Despite original reports that a defibrillator was used in an attempt to revive Morosini, Livorno and Pescara physicians neglected to use the technology to save the 25-year-old which “would have given [Morosini] a better chance to survive”, the report read.

The report was presented at a hearing in Pescara where doctors  Manlio Guinea, Enrico Sabatini and Vito Molfese are being tried for manslaughter.
