Sassuolo boss Eusebio Di Francesco insists that his team gave their best in their defeat to Sampdoria on Wednesday.

The Neroverdi, who currently sit in the relegation zone on the Serie A table, fell 2-1 to the Blucerchiati at home on Wednesday and the tactician admits that the visiting side showed more confidence and created more chances than his squad did.

Di Francesco spoke to Rai Sport after the loss to Sampdoria and revealed that he couldn’t blame his team for the negative result due to their determination throughout the match.

“My boys put their soul into this game, I can’t blame them for anything,” said the 44-year-old.

“We played our game on a tactical level, Sampdoria had more self-confidence and were more carefree.

“What did I dislike about tonight? We had made an error when it was 1-1. We had to wait for the ball because this was a match that would have been decided by the amount of chances, which was in their favour.

“The players had given their all on the field.”
