Italy squad announced for friendly against Spain

Ciro Immobile TorinoNew faces Ciro Immobile, Gabriel Paletta and Mattia Perin have all been called up by Cesare Prandelli for Italy’s friendly match against Spain on Wednesday.

The two countries will square off at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid on Wednesday night in preparation for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Immobile and Perin have been called up after impressive seasons for Torino and Genoa to date.

Paletta, who was born in Argentina, has been named to the Azzurri side after stating on several occasions that he would prefer to represent the country of his forefathers.

Daniele De Rossi has not been included in the side after breaking the code of ethics due to his punch to the face of Inter striker Mauro Icardi during Saturday’s 0-0 draw between Roma and Inter, an incident that will most certainly see the Rome native receive a hefty ban.

Midfielders: Candreva (Lazio), Giaccherini (Sunderland), Marchisio (Juventus), Montolivo (Milan), Thiago Motta (Paris Saint Germain), Parolo (Parma), Pirlo (Juventus), Verratti (Paris Saint Germain)

Forwards:  Cerci (Torino), Destro (Roma), Gilardino (Genoa), Immobile (Torino), Insigne (Napoli), Osvaldo (Juventus)
