AC Milan midfielder Andrea Poli admitted Atletico Madrid’s second goal against the run of play knocked the stuffing out of the Rossoneri.

Arda Turan’s goal to make it 2-1 just before halftime, after Milan had equalized and started to dominate the play proved to be crucial, with Atletico dominating the match from then on running out 4-1 winners on the night.

“The game was put into the difficulty after the early goal,” Andrea Poli told Mediaset after the game.

“The team, however, reacted well and we played 20 minutes very good.

“Then came the 2-1 in a somewhat fortuitous circumstance [with the deflection] and after that we no longer had the strength to get up, because Atletico Madrid are a great team.

“After the equalizer I did not see all this supremacy of Atletico and Kaka nearly put us in the lead. The goal of Arda Turan broke our legs however.”

Poli was arguably Milan’s greatest performer on the night, teeing up Kaka for the equalizer.
