Ettore Gliozzi also scored twice for Sassuolo but it was not enough to stop the slide to a 3-2 home loss against Novara who hit a 93rd minute winner to do it.

Atalanta remain top, albeit level on points, of an extremely tight Group B after beating Udinese 2-0 thanks to strikes from Janis Cavagna and Faisal Bangal.

Lazio remain leaders of Group C after thrashing Crotone 7-2, Simone Palombi grabbing himself a hat-trick and Cristiano Lombardi scored twice.

Three points behind are Fiorentina after they squeezed past winless Avellino 1-0, showing increasing signs of improvement in their performance, thanks to Andy Bungu’s goal two minutes from time.

Roma were also lone goal victors at the weekend with Jacopo Ferri helping them to a 1-0 win at Livorno.

Leaders Lazio were not the only side to score seven as Latina were also on the receiving end of a 7-3 thrashing at Palermo. After Cephas Malele opened the scoring, they had quickly built up a 4-0 lead after 29 minutes.

Fabio Aveni’s late goal helped Catania to a 2-0 win at home against Napoli while Elio Mastrangelo’s hat-trick helped Bari to a 4-0 win on the road at Trapani.
