Lazio coach Edy Reja believes he saw a marked improvement from his side as the Biancocelesti defeated Cagliari 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Biancocelesti successfully bounced back from a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Atalanta as Senad Lulic and Keita Balde scored either side of the interval to give the Aquilotti a crucial away victory at the Stadio Sant’Elia.

The result puts them within five points of fifth placed Parma, who occupy the last of the European places.

“Today we put in a great performance, we’re growing,” Reja told Rai Sport after the final whistle.

“I’m just sorry for the loss to Atalanta at home.

“With the fans close to us we can surely do better, I hope to see lots of them at the stadium against AC Milan.

“The Europa League? We’ll try our best right until the end.

“We’ve improved, the centre-midfielders are getting involved often, with [Cristian] Ledesma who acts as a good shield in front of the defence.

“Slowly but surely things are getting better. The president [Claudio Lotito] is always available to talk to – it is good for us to communicate often.”
