Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone said that his side are a ‘growing’ one, after their 5-1 aggregate win over AC Milan on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
Los Rojiblancos’s came through Diego Costa who scored a brace, Raul Garcia, and Arda Turan, while Ricardo Kaka scored Milan’s only goal.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the former Catania boss said that his side are a ‘growing’ one.
“We are happy with what we’ve done,” he said. “We’ve been improving over the past two and a half years.
“We started well, but then we faced problems when they [Milan] pressed higher up the pitch.
“Before the Milan goal we spent about 10-12 minutes not retrieving the ball”.
Simeone also pointed out that Robinho was a real danger man for Milan since his introduction, while also pointing out that his side weren’t good heading into half-time.
“We knew we would do well on the right wing,” he continued. “The opposite of that happened on the other side due to Robinho’s presence.
“From the moment we lost a ball, we knew that Milan could score on the break.
“At half-time we weren’t in good shape”.
