AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy returned to training with the first team on Wednesday after a four month layoff.

El Shaarawy has been out of the Milan lineup since December 28th when he went under the knife to repair a pre-existing micro fracture in his left foot.

The Italian first picked up the injury during training in September before Milan’s Champions League group stage clash with Ajax before returning in December and aggravating the injury which required surgery to finally repair the problem.

ANSA has revealed that El Shaarawy returned to training on Wednesday in hopes of finally putting his injury woes behind him for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old is expected to play for the Milan Primavera team over the weekend as they prepare to square off against Padova on Saturday.
