Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that coach Walter Mazzarri will definitely be remaining with the Biscione next season.

Some rumours have claimed that Mazzarri could be relieved of his position at the Milan side due to the club’s inconsistent results throughout the campaign, though the Nerazzurri director insists that club president Erick Thohir wants to continue rebuilding the team with his current staff.

Ausilio spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of Inter’s match against Parma on Saturday, which they won 2-0, about the coach’s future, while also commenting on the team’s hopes of playing in the Europa League again.

“Mazzarri is absolutely confirmed to stay, as we’ve always said,” said the sporting director. “We are also thinking of an extension with the president.

“Have we expected to arrive here with a chance to play in the Europa League? Obviously we’d all like to see Inter stay at the top, but it has been a strange season with a change of ownership, and many player with expiring contracts.

“We’re here to plan the next season, knowing that all of this will serve as an experience for us.

“Our game with Parma will be a good one, we hope to be the ones to secure the three points even though they have a good amount of important players.

“[Antonio] Cassano? Football is made of these situations. He had the opportunity to go to Parma and we’re happy for him, because we’ve preserved a great relationship with him.”
