Rafa Benitez NapoliRafa Benitez believes his Napoli side missed out on an opportunity to claim all three points at the Stadio Friuli on Saturday as the Partenopei were held to a 1-1 draw by Udinese.

A first half goal by Jose Callejon was cancelled out in the second half when Pepe Reina’s pass from the back was intercepted by Pinzi and converted home by Bruno Fernandes.

“We had a good first half and controlled the game,” the Spanish tactician told SportMediaset after the match. “But then we should have closed the game out. We made mistakes and gifted them their goal.”

“After their goal we lost a little bit of confidence but after ten minutes we returned to controlling the game.”

‘I am not happy because Napoli should have won this game. We still have to get better and realize the importance of every match.”

Benitez refused to have a go at the referee after a couple of events went against the Partenopei during the match, most notable Duvan Zapata having a penalty appeal waved away and a suspected offside on the equalizing goal.

“I wont talk of the officials even though there were plenty of episodes,” he said.

Napoli’s next match is against Inter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza next Saturday.
