Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has pointed out that the Old Lady are close to achieving their dream of playing in the Europa League final at home this season.

The Bianconeri will be facing Portuguese side Benfica in the tournament’s semi-final round, with the first leg taking place in Lisbon on April 24, and the 26-year-old is confident that his team can earn a spot in the final at Juventus Stadium on May 14.

Bonucci spoke to Juventus TV about his hopes of reaching the Europa League final with Juve and was adamant that the reigning Serie A champions must show the strength they’ve demonstrated all season to secure points in the first leg.

“We’re just 180 minutes away from fulfilling the dream of playing the final at home,” said the Italian international.

“Therefore we must go to Lisbon and play as the strong Juventus side that we’ve proven to be in both Italy and Europe.

“What counts most is to go to into the first leg with the desire to secure a win there, and with the knowledge we have we can have our say both away and at home.”
