Borja Valero set to extend Fiorentina contract

valero fiorentinaFiorentina midfielder Borja Valero is close to agreeing on a new deal that will see him remain with the club until 2017.

The Spaniard joined the Viola in 2012 for €7 million and has become a key figure at the Stadio Artemio Franchi for coach Vincenzo Montella.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Valero will sign a contract extension until 2017 with the option to stay on for a further year.

The 29-year-old has scored five goals in 26 league appearances so far this season, although he has not managed to hit the net in 2014.

Valero, who began his career with Real Madrid before spells with Real Mallorca, West Bromwich Albion and Villarreal, last scored in the Viola’s 3-0 home win over Bologna in December 2013.
