Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has praised Napoli captain Marek Hamsik for his talents on the pitch.
The 25-year-old, who was originally a transfer target of the Partenopei before he decided to join to the Premier League side from Benfica during this season’s January transfer window, has claimed that Hamsik is one of the most difficult players he has ever played against besides Barcelona star forward Lionel Messi.
Matic spoke to the official Chelsea website about some of the greatest players he’s ever faced on the field and complimented the Napoli man on his strong presence in the midfield.
“I’ve played against so many great players,” said the Serbian international, who previously played for the English club from 2009-11 before his return this campaign.
“I like the way Napoli’s Marek Hamsik plays, he is always very difficult to control in the midfield. Messi is hard to control in that area as well, though this is obvious.”
