Chievo boss Eugenio Corini is adamant that his team must secure the three points in their match against Livorno on Sunday.

The Flying Donkeys currently sit in 16th place in the Serie A table with 27 points, just two points ahead of the Amaranto and the relegation zone, and the 43-year-old wants his squad to make the game a tough one for their opponents, as he admits that earning points in this stage of the season is crucial for salvation.

Corini spoke during his pre-match press conference on Saturday about the away meeting with Livorno on Sunday and commented on Labronici coach Domenico Di Carlo.

“We will find a very warm atmosphere there, as we normally do,” said the tactician.

“This is a decisive moment in the championship, we must earn points, because that will help save us from relegation, but to this day other teams are right behind us and giving chase.

“It’s fundamental that our performance is bound together with an important result. I want a tough and vigorous contest.

“We want to satisfy the club and celebrate with our away fans, repeating what we were able to do last season against Siena.

“Di Carlo? I’ve never faced him, but I know him well. However, in these games it comes down to more than just the contrast between coaches, I look to the many situations that we can carry in our favour.”
