Aurelio De Laurentiis NapoliNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that he’s happy with the way the Azzurri’s season has been going despite reports claiming otherwise.

Recent rumours have claimed that the 64-year-old has been upset with the way coach Rafa Benitez has been running the Partenopei since his arrival, though the club’s president has denied this by admitting that the Naples side have done well this term, especially with the amount of changes they’ve made to their squad last summer.

De Laurentiis spoke to TGR Campania about Napoli’s season and praised the team for quickly becoming a top club again in recent years.

“It would have been better if we were already qualified for the Champions League group stage,” said the Napoli chief.

“However, we’re happy, especially since we’ve changed most of the team, our coach, formation and the way we play our game. We can consider ourselves settled in the championship.

“Napoli are now a top club, while we weren’t even in the world rankings after our return to the Serie A [in 2007].

“A few months later we had reached the 500th place, while now we are among the top 30 in the world.”
