Former Genoa director of sport Daniele Delli Carri has stated that the Grifone needed to show Torino striker Ciro Immobile more trust in his abilities when he was at the club.

Immobile spent the 2012-2013 season with the Rossoblu, but was largely ineffective scoring five goals and adding three assists in 34 appearances.

“[Immobile] needs to be on the confidence, just so his performance goes beyond its limits,” Delli Carri told Tuttosport.

“That confidence is what he probably lacked. Comparatively, if [Fiorentina Winger Juan] Cuadrado who has two years left on his contract and plays a different position is valued by Udinese at €13 million, then I don’t think Immobile could be for less.”

The 24 year old Immobile has been scoring regularly this season for the Granata, tallying 18 goals in Serie A. He is currently tied with Juventus’ Carlos Tevez as top scorer.
