Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco believes the Neroverdi’s 1-0 away victory over Chievo was key to their hopes of remaining in the Serie A.

Domenico Berardi’s first half strike was enough to give the away side an important three points, putting them level on points with Bologna for 17th place.

“It was important to win today even if we know that we could pay for it in our upcoming match as we had many players at risk of being banned,” he told Rai Sport after the match.

“Those that will play in place of the suspended players will do well regardless because this is a group of professionals.

“Berardi? He has rediscovered a bit of serenity that he was missing lately. He needed the goal in order to have even more assurance.

“Regardless of the goal he played a great match today.”
