Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco sounded positive but didn’t get carried away in his post-match comments after the Neroverdi’s 2-0 win away to Atalanta on Sunday.

Sasol took the three points thanks to two goals from Nicola Sansone that leaves Sassuolo three points from safety with six games left.

“It wasn’t easy against this Atalanta side, a team coming off the back of six consecutive wins,” said Di Francesco to Rai Sport after the game.

“We were good at making the most of the chances we created.

“I knew that Atalanta would start strongly, but we hit them back blow for blow.

“Perhaps we have picked up less this season than we should have considering what we have shown on the pitch.

“We believe in survival, today was great proof of that.”

Di Francesco was also asked about Sassuolo’s next opponents who are Cagliari at home.

“We only need to worry about ourselves, we can’t make mistakes.”
