Parma coach Roberto Donadoni was proud of his team’s fighting spirit after earning a 1-1 draw against Bologna on Sunday in a match where the Crociati were clearly not at their best.

The Gialloblu had to fight hard as the side were without two key players as Antonio Cassano was sidelined with an injury and Marco Parolo, author of a great goal in last week’s 1-0 victory over Napoli, was out due to suspension.

“We’ve established continuity this season and I’m particularly proud of this group and the players at my disposal,” Donadoni told Sky Sport Italia after the match at the Stadio Dell’Ara.

“If we played with the same intensity as we did against Napoli today’s match would’ve been different but the afternoon start time didn’t help and we did well to comeback against a Bologna side who played a great game.”

Donadoni has guided the team to a terrific season in Parma’s 100th anniversary season as the side set a club record with 17 unbeaten matches and are on the brink of playing in European competition next season with the Gialloblu neck and neck with Inter in the standings.

“If we arrive at a Europa League spot with Inter I have to say it’ll be a great season as Inter has an important squad and is built for objectives that are even higher,” Donadoni stated.

Parma will host Inter next Saturday in what could be deciding battle for 5th place in Serie A.

“It’s an important match as it’s one against a direct competitor but it’s just incredible to fighting for a Europa League spot with Inter.”
