Torino midfielder Omar El Kaddouri has insisted it would be “absurd” for anyone to suggest that his side cannot clinch Europa League football this season.

In a lengthy interview, the man who opened the scoring in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Udinese to send Toro sixth, spoke about it and believes it was a massive match.

He said: “It was an important victory because it leaves us standing there with the other big teams fighting toe to toe for Europe in the last three games.

“It would be absurd now not to believe in Europa League qualification. We are there, three games to go, we have Chievo who are fighting for survival, then Parma who are a direct opponent for our goal and finally Fiorentina, which is always a tough game.”

The Moroccan international continued: “We will try to realise this dream for us, the city and for everyone. I do not think that one team is favourite more than another and I do not know the fixtures of the other teams but I know that the games will be tough, it will be the strongest team who qualifies.”

“It is a nice day for Toro fans worldwide and for me too in scoring, a goal I dedicate to my wife [who recently gave birth to their child].

He also spoke about whether or not he would remain at the Granata, where he is currently on loan from Napoli, and said if given the opportunity he would like to stay at the club.

“Does that fifth goal of the season signal my intent to remain in Turin? I am happy here and this year I have enjoyed it but have at times suffered with little injuries and have not always played at 100%. I know that I can do better.

“I would like to stay, if the club want to keep me, and continue working with a coach who has helped me grow up a lot.”
