Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi believes the capital city club should keep their current players if they want to continue improving.

The Giallorossi have secured a definite spot in the Champions League after their 1-0 victory over Fiorentina on Saturday and the 23-year-old feels the club’s executives should buy more players on the market to help strengthen the squad, but without selling anyone.

Florenzi spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of Roma’s win against the Viola about how the team can further progress, while also commenting on the possibility of being called up to Italy’s World Cup squad this summer.

“Fiorentina have played well for the past two years, but we’re going there strong in second place and we will aim to win the match,” said the Italian international.

“How to improve the team? First we must keep everyone, then the club can make their own choices on the market.

“Hopefully the choices they make prove to be good ones.

“The World Cup? I have a clear conscience, I’m focused on doing well in these last games. I’ll continue to give everything, then I’ll accept the decisions of [Cesare] Prandelli.”
