Former AC Milan goalkeeper Giovanni Galli is now the frontrunner to become the new Rossoneri sporting director this summer.

Adriano Galliani admitted that the club is searching for a man in that position after the departure of Ariedo Braida, who resigned on December 31.

It is believed that Galliani and Barbara Berlusconi agree that Galli is the right man for the job according to reports emanating from Tuttosport.

Galliani and Galli informally met when Milan faced Fiorentina on March 26 as the former goalkeeper later confirmed in an interview, though he denied discussing a possible move to join the club.

“If Milan called, I would gladly agree this is obvious,” Galli told Calciomercato.com on Wednesday.

“First of all, I am a professional and my relationship with Milan has always been excellent.

“Who does not dream about working for a club as important as the Rossonero one?”

Galli played for four season at Milan, between 1986 and 1990, making 98 appearances.

He spent a season at Foggia as sporting director back in 1997 and occupied the same role at Hellas Verona, but only for three months, between 2007 and 2008.

Milan have also been linked with moves for the likes of Hellas Verona’s Sean Sogliano, Napoli’s Riccardo Bigon, Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta and Juventus’ Fabio Paratici, though Galli is now the clear favourite.
