Handanovic - InterInter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic praised his club’s efforts but was weary of the path ahead after their important 2-0 victory at the Stadio Tardini pushed the Nerazzurri a full five points ahead of Parma on Saturday.

The 29-year old Slovenian keeper made a few terrific saves as he got a hand on Antonio Cassano’s penalty before being aided by the crossbar when Alessandro Lucarelli’s header hit the frame despite the Ducali being reduced to 10 men.

“We knew the match would be extremely difficult and it was clear the penalty miss was very important,” Handanovic said in a post-match interview with Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a great victory but weren’t anywhere near perfect,” the Inter keeper admitted.

After Gabriel Paletta was sent off at the beginning of the second half for his second yellow card, Parma dominated long stretches of the second half and they would rue the penalty miss and the multiple shots which fell just outside Handanovic’s net.

“Now we have a few difficult matches ahead of us and, as we saw today, things can change instantly in any match. We have to remain concentrated through the end of the season.”
