Hellas Verona forward hopes Bayern Munich retain Champions League.

Luca Toni - VeronaHellas Verona forward Luca Toni has admitted he would like his former club and Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, to retain the Champions League this year.

The Hellas Verona top-scorer enjoyed a three year spell with the Bavarian outfit from 2007 to 2010 and the World Cup winner said he is still very fond of his former club.

“I hope Bayern Munich win the Champions League, it is a club I am still very fond of,” the 36-year-old told reporters during his visit to the offices of his sponsor – Lotto Sport Italia.

“I am very close to the club president and director, I know the coach [Josep Guardiola] after we played together [at Brescia] and I am still in touch with some of the players.”

Toni has been crucial to the Scaligeri’s season thus far, scoring 16 goals in 28 Serie A appearances and he also impressed during his time in Germany, scoring 38 goals in 60 appearances for the Bavarians.
