Luca Toni - VeronaLuca Toni spoke to media following Hellas Verona’s 1-0 win over Chievo Verona on Saturday afternoon about the possibility of the 36-year-old veteran making it into Cesare Prandelli’s World Cup squad this summer.

Toni scored his 16th goal of the season and has been a sensation leading the Gialloblu to a season that has one of the surprises of the season.

“I’m having a good championship,” Toni told press following the match.

“At the World Cup we have players who have scored less than me, why should not I believe I..,” Toni wondered aloud.

The striker left Juventus in 2012 for Middle Eastern side Al Nasr, and Toni noted that even he was thinking about retiring when the move went through.

“I thought I was going to Dubai and quit, then there was the opportunity to return to Fiorentina and I did.

“I think I played a good season in Florence, but at the end of the season they made ??other choices.

“So I decided to come here in Verona.”
