Romulo - VeronaThe agent of Hellas Verona winger Romulo has told of the player’s happiness at his call-up to Italy’s 42-man squad in preparation for this summer’s World Cup.

The 42 players will undergo physical tests next Monday and Tuesday at Coverciano under the watchful eye of Italy coach Cesare Prandelli.

Romulo was one of the players selected for the tests, and his agent, Alex Firmino, told Tuttomercatoweb of his excitement at the call-up.

“The boy is very happy,” he said. “He has worked a whole lifetime for this moment.

“He deserves it, he has always done well.

“I am optimistic he will go to the World Cup. The first step has been completed and now I believe he can make the 23-man squad.”

The 26-year-old has scored five times in 32 appearances for Verona since joining on loan from Fiorentina last summer, and despite being born in Brazil can represent the Azzurri as he holds an Italian passport.
