Brazilian midfielder Hernanes hopes that an improvement in Inter’s form can consolidate his place in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad.
The Nerazzurri have struggled of late, losing 2-1 to Atalanta and then failing to break down Udinese in a 0-0 draw.
Former Lazio favourite Hernanes says the rebuilding process Inter are in is tough, but results will improve.
“While we are rebuilding Juventus have managed to gain a huge advantage,” said Hernanes.
“It is tough but I think from here the team will improve, and in one or two years regain the power we once had.”
In the meantime the 28-year-old is hoping to do enough to earn a place in his country’s World Cup squad.
“The technical staff have confidence in me and I have already been convened several times by Scolari.
“I am hoping that my name is eventually on the list, but if not I will remain calm.
“I am only young and have a long road ahead of me, so I could aim for the next World Cup.”
Hernanes has so far made a total of 23 appearances for Brazil, scoring two goals.
