Immobile wants Torino double act at World Cup

Torino striker Ciro Immobile has spoken of his delight that he has scored so many goals this season and hopes he and teammate Alessio Cerci will make the World Cup this summer.

The forward is the current Capocannoniere having notched 19 goals in Serie A with teammate Cerci on 13. The two combined have scored and created 37 of Torino’s 49 league goals – excluding assisting one another.

‘’I am glad of the many goals I’ve scored so far with Torino,’’ he told Sky Sport Italia.

‘’I am also glad that this is taken into account for the national team.

‘’Cerci and I have are given it everything to deserve to wear the Italy jersey and convince Prandelli.

“The coach is observing us and I’m happy he is following my progress.’

‘’Now I’ll give it my all in these upcoming days. You can tell how much it means to us.

‘’Alessio and I are good together but we’ll have see what happens from here to the end of the season.’’

The interview concluded when asked about Torino’s chances of qualifying in the Europa League.

‘’We are thinking about it yes, but it is a race and we must take it one step at a time.’’
