Inter drew 2-2 with Bologna on Saturday evening at San Siro in Serie A.

Mauro Icardi opened the scoring for the Biscione early on before Jonathan Cristaldo levelled for the Rossoblu in the first half, Icardi then scored again in the second half with a stunning goal but Panagiotis Kone pegged Inter back again and Diego Milito missed a penalty towards the end.

Inter opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a Icardi half-volley after the Argentine got onto the end of a Yuto Nagatomo cross from the left-wing which he smashed passed Gianluca Curci first-time from close-range.

The Nerazzurri exerted early pressure stages but were mostly restricted to long shots from the likes of Esteban Cambiasso and Ricky Alvarez.

Bologna’s first effort came in the 16th minute after a Lazarus shot bounced uncomfortably in front of Samir Handanovic who pushed it away unconvincingly.

Cesare Natali displayed Bologna’s ability to threaten from set pieces in the 22nd minute after his header from a deep cross forced Handanovic to tip the ball over his own bar.

Rodrigo Palacio made the home crowd gasp in the 28th minute after he cut inside from the left but his powerful right foot strike flew just passed the right hand post.

Bologna equalised in the 35th minute against the run of play after Gyorgy Garics beat Nagatomo with a great piece of skill on the byline before squaring the ball which was fired first-time by Lazaros at Handanovic but the rebound fell to Pazienza whose low drive seemed to take the slightest deflection off team-mate Cristaldo to wrong-foot the keeper.

Inter looked to respond minutes later but Curci saved from Cambiasso and despite much pressure the Felsinei’s defence held out and Bologna continued to look threatening on the counterattack and Rene Khrin misplaced a pass when he had a great opportunity to square the ball and the teams went in level.

At the start of the second half Krhin drove towards the Inter goal but Handanovic saved comfortably from his low strike.

In the 52nd minute a Danilo D’Ambrosio cross just eluded the desperate lunges of Palacio and Icardi 61st minute but the Austrian missed the target

Icardi restored Inter’s advantage in the 63rd minute with a spectacular effort from outside the area that curled into the top-right corner via the inside of the post.

The visitors drew level again through Kone in the 73rd minute after Rolando failed to clear from a Mantovani cross and the ball fell kindly to the Greek who simply had to react and knock it in from inside the six-yard-box.

Inter were awarded with their first penalty of the season in the 83rd minute after Mantovani manhandled Palacio in the area.

Substitute Milito’s penalty was too close to Curci who moved to his right to palm the ball away.

Bologna looked dangerous in the 90th minute but Lazaros failed to connect with the ball and let Inter off the hook.

Bologna almost hit Inter in the last minute to take three points but Roberto Aquafresca was denied by a Handanovic double save.
